(Older but still useful NewTek information)

NewTek discontinues the TriCaster BROADCAST and 3D Arsenal software

NewTek has dropped the standard-definition TriCaster BROADCAST from its product line-up. The only standard-definition TriCaster model left for sale is the TriCaster STUDIO.

NewTek has also discontinued their 3D Arsenal software. LightWave 10 software is still available as NewTek's premiere 3D animation software.

NewTek announces LiveText 2.1 update

The LiveText 2.1 update includes DataLink™ 3.0, which provides added convenience and important new tools, such as the DataLink Profile Manager, allowing users to:

Edit and manage INI files to configure DataLink sources, automatically Store and recall an unlimited number of custom “data profiles,” quickly define a database, network source (RSS feed), text file, or serial-connected scoreboard as the data source, or refer to data from several sources, simultaneously adapt to different venues, sports or other set-ups, quickly (activate the desired custom data profile and re-launch LiveText, using the convenient button in the DataLink Profile Manager). Other benefits include an expanded list of compatible devices, with a simplified configuration; settings and key names automatically configured for supported hardware, reducing set-up time and transcription errors; and a more user-friendly database.

NewTek announces Virtual Set Editor 1.5 update

The VSE 1.5 update includes additional PhotoShop PSD file support for creating virtual sets and double-box effects for the TCXD300 and TCXD850. The ability to use 32 or 16-bit PSD files to produce real warped mapping layers gives users more design options, plus seamless conversion of PSD Layer Groups into VSE Layer Groups for better organization. The option to name individual PSD Input Layers makes it easier to manage files. And finally, the ability to rename individual camera angles provides added convenience.

NewTek announces permanent price reduction on TriCaster STUDIO

As of April 18th, 2011, NewTek has permanently lowered the list price of the TriCaster STUDIO from $8,995.00 to $7,995.00. Because DigiTek Systems is an Elite Dealer, we can sell you a new TriCaster STUDIO for an even lower price . . . much lower!

NewTek is shipping the Virtual Set Editor for the TriCaster 300, TriCaster 800 and TriCaster 850 EXTREME!

As of Feb. 3rd, 2011, NewTek's Virtual Set Editor or VSE is now shipping . . . .  Priced at $995.00 ($495.00 for schools), the Virtual Set Editor allows you to create custom virual sets for the TCXD300 or TCXD850 model TriCasters. Users can import their own backgrounds and logos to achieve the exact look they want.

TriCaster VSE is currently shipping with a total of six (now 12) customizable VSE virtual set content files (PrimeTime, Randomize, and Skybox, with limited time bonus sets - Nightly Show, City Loft and Demo Studio).

With VSE, you aren't editing the actual sets that are included with your TriCaster TCXD850 or TCXD300. Rather, you are provided with customizable versions of those sets that you can edit and export to TriCaster for use in your live productions.

VSE also includes three customizable Layer Sets, three customizable double-box effects, 48 double-box frames, more than 30 backgrounds and three PSD examples. You can also import layered PSD files created in Adobe Photoshop that are converted into custom double-box effects and virtual sets. I have had an opportunity to spend some time with the product and there really is so much more you can do than just edit customizable versions of the stock virtual sets.
