Wealth of new products announced at 2011 IBC Show

Sept. 9th, 2011: An array of new products at the 2011 IBC Show in Amsterdam were announced from various manufacturers including NewTek, Blackmagic Design and Matrox. I have listed some of the more interesting items with a brief summary of each.

NewTek announced two new TriCaster models, the TriCaster 450 at $14,995.00 and the TriCaster 450 EXTREME at $19,995.00. Both models work with four external video sources and offer two DSKs, two video clipback players and two other media players, two network connections plus live video switching, recording and streaming. A new control panel (the TriCaster 450 CS at $4,995.00) and new instant-replay controller (the TriCaster 450 TW at $2,495.00) were also announced. For more information click here.

Matrox announced their MC-100 SDI to HDMI converter for only $495.00. The MC-100 offers two SDI inputs and SDI outputs with HDMI monitoring and allows switching between the two SDI inputs plus multiformat SDI distribution while working with 3G, Dual Link, HD, and SD formats. Click here and here for detailed information.

Blackmagic Design announced a huge number of new products at the 2011 IBC show. Time and space force me to write brief product descriptions but links to Blackmagic's website for each proudct are included. For a complete list of those new products click here . . . . Some of the more interesting products include the following:

Lower-priced SDI to HDMI and HDMI to SDI Mini Converters at only $295.00. The Mini Converter SDI to HDMI converts from SDI to HDMI video with embedded HDMI audio, plus balanced AES/EBU or analog audio. The Mini Converter HDMI to SDI is ideal for converting from HDMI devices to SDI video with the choice to embed SDI audio from HDMI, AES/EBU or balanced analog audio inputs. Click here for details.

Lower-priced Analog to SDI and SDI to Analog Mini Converters at only $295.00. This is extremely welcome for Blackmagic Design ATEM 1 M/E users . . . the Analog to SDI converter lets you bring in older analog video cameras, VCRs and DVD players as live video sources to the 1 M/E switcher. The SDI to Analog converters means you can break out analog audio from SDI digital sources and feed them to the ATEM 1 M/E switcher. This is important because the 1 M/E strips away any embedded audio with SDI video sources. Click here for details.

The SmartView HD is a 6 RU rackmout 17-inch monitor that works with SDI/HD-SDI/3G-SDI inputs. Priced at only $795.00, the SmartView HD is ideal for monitoring video cameras used with video switchers and other applications and can be adjusted for an external computer for color balance adjustments. Click here for details.

The Intensity Extreme video capture and playback device with Thunderbolt connectivity at $295.00 works with both HDMI and analog video sources including SD/HD component, NTSC, PAL and S-video plus switches HDMI and Component video between HD and SD. Capture and playback DV, DVCPRO HD, HDV, Online JPEG, ProRes and uncompressed video. Click here for details.

The ATEM Studio Converter includes 4 bi-directional optical fiber SDI converters with Optical fiber converters to both SDI and HDMI outputs, with de embedded AES/EBU audio out. The unit includes microphone and headphone connections on front for PC style headsets and the built-in talkback includes AES/EBU loops on rear for expanding to extra ATEM Studio Converters. Click here for details.
