Sept. 22nd, 2011: NewTek announces free TriCaster XD-series Rev. 3 software update

Revision 3 Notes

The following sub-headings detail the more important Rev. 3 revisions by TriCaster model:

TriCaster TCXD850 EXTREME
________________________________________________________________

Switcher

·         Local Transition group controls in the Live Desktop support direct DSK channel source assignments (without requiring the use of the Utility Row).

·         Program sources that are keyed or have an embedded alpha channel no longer show the FX row source as background on Program output by default.  (This 'feature' was redundant in view of the more powerful Virtual Input implementation, and potentially confusing).

·         Reduced throughput latency for Progressive video modes.

Transitions

·         Animation Store Creator 2.0 supports 32bit imagery as input sequences. This means Animation Stores can be created with perfect edge blending and feathering, and support fully variable transparency in both the color overlay and transition (allowing any pixel to mix A and B sources at any frame).

·         Animation Store sample animation files improved in quality.

Audio and Recording

·         H.264 recording quality and performance has been improved.

·         Aux audio source selections (other than are 'All')  are no longer affected by the individual source Mute switches.

·         New VU meters with much higher performance are overlayed on the desktop monitors; this simplifies monitor titlebars, and naturally reduces visual clutter when there is no audio on a channel.

·         Tool tips on audio mixers display the dB level numerically.

·         Massive improvement to audio quality passed through the system.

Monitoring

·         VU meters in Scopes tab work properly now.

·         New full-time Preview monitor on Live Desktop.

·         FX monitor added to All Monitors tab.

·         Resizable PGM/PVW monitor pane.

·         Double-click adjustable Live Desktop dividers to reset to default.

·         Scopes now fully support ITU-R Rec. 601 and 709 standards.

·         Scopes now respect FX channel LiveMatte, Crop and Proc Amp settings.

Media Players

·         Better playback of very long clips.

·       Captured Flash(tm) streaming files (F4V) now play in the DDR.

Other

·         Resolved issue setting Composite output on Rows 1 and 2.

·         Resolved issue that could occur if an incorrect serial number was entered into the registration dialog.

·         Resolved several title editor positioning issues.

·         Resolved an issue removing multi-selected DDR clips using the keyboard or CS.

·         Resolved a problem that could cause clicking FX a second time in a Virtual Input to show black.

·         The Animate Zoom icon is grayed out for LiveSets that do not support zooming.

·         LC-11 updates:

·         Can now select PingPong bu pressing Alt+FX

·         Resolved several problems with button lights not tracking UI or switching operations.

·         Multi-language user interface support.

·         LiveText improvements and also fixes for international usage.

·         Unregistered systems no longer prevent live production after a registration grace period. Instead, a watermark is shown on output before registration.

·         Improvements to Eject (hard drive) and multi-drive session support.

·         When 'Follow' settings (Desktop Options) are active, control surface operations may sometimes hide a tabbed module that you want to view.  Pressing a control surface Delegate button now re-displays the corresponding tabbed pane on the Live Desktop.

·         The list of NewTek control surfaces supported now includes TriCaster 850 TW, 850CS, TW-42, LC-11 and 450 CS.

·         VI Positioners now fully support Black source selection.

·         Numerous smaller UI refinements.

·         The manual has been updated.
