Choosing the right PC to work with SpeedEDIT
NewTek provides system requirements for editing either standard-definition or high-definition video in real-time. . . those specs are found below.
Of course, editing hi-def video takes more horsepower than editing standard-def video. But you will be pleasantly surprised how affordable a SpeedEDIT system can be even when editing high-definition video. We tested SpeedEDIT on a variety of PCs including single-core, dual-core and dual dual-core (quad) systems. While hi-def video requires a faster PC to work in real-time, Intel has recently released cutting-edge chipsets and processors that provide dual-core performance at an affordable price. You will be pleasantly surprised at how affordable a SpeedEDIT system can be that cuts through hi-def video like butter!
While digital formats work with an IEEE-1394 or digital interface for bringing video and audio in and out of an editing system, the ability to work with analog video and audio is still very important. We offer an affordable add-on to your SpeedEDIT system that allows you to capture and playback composite, YC and component video plus stereo audio while still working with digital video.
SpeedEDIT works well either a single or dual-monitor display, but the program really shines when working with three video monitors . . . one for the storyboard/timeline interface, another for your clips and effects bins, and yet another for your video output. We offer an affordable solution that allows you to do that.
