Blackmagic Design reveals trio of powerful, new ATEM video switchers

 

April 30th, 2011; Blackmagic Design announced three new video switchers at NAB 2011. Priced from $995.00 to $4,995.00, each model can work with a laptop or desktop Mac or Windows PC or with a pair of optional external control surface, providing incredible capabiltiy at an affordable price. Both HD-SD SDI and HDMI inputs are supported, along with video clip, graphics and titles playback. The $995.00 Television Studio provides streaming, and can be added downsteam of the more powerful 1 M/E and 2 M/E Production Switchers. The 1U Television Studio, priced at only $995.00, allows you to connect up to four HD/SD SDI or HDMI video inputs and works with six video inputs at a time. No analog video or audio inputs or outputs are included. Multiple upstream and downstream keyers plus chroma-keying are included. The program output can be saved as a file via the USB 2.0 port to an external computer. A PhotoShop plug-in allows you to bring-in titles and graphics and edit them on the fly. Unique to this ATEM model is its ability to encode a real-time internet streaming file that can uploaded to a server for VOD and other applications.

The 2U 1 M/E Television Switcher, priced at $2,495.00, offers more video inputs and outputs including analog composite, Y/C and component video plus analog audio output, downconverted SD-SDI, component and composite video outputs, video clip playback, USB 3.0 and RS-422 support and much more. A total of eight video inputs can be used at the same time. Schedule to ship in May, 2011.

The 3U 2 M/E Television switcher, priced at $4,995.00, incorporates the features found with the 1 M/E and adds yet more video inputs and outputs, adds a second multiview connection, redundant power supply, plus a second mixed-effects bus or SuperSource keyer for nearly unlimited keying layers. A total of 16 video inputs can be used at the same time.

While all three ATEM models can be controlled via a Mac or Windows laptop or desktop computer, Blackmagic Design offers the 1 M/E Broadcast Panel at $4,995.00 pictured at the right and the 2 M/E Broadcast Panel at $14,995.00 pictured below. 

Both panels allow a more traditional hands-on approach to working with all three ATEM switcher models. An optional tally light and GPI interface will be available at $495.00.
